Picnic

As the costume designer for this production of William Inges’ 1953 play, my responsibilities were to give the audience the perception that they were immersed in the sexually repressed yet charged culture of 1950s American Midwest.  I used period accurate silhouettes for the ensemble and heavily relied on authentic accessories to accentuate and highlight each character’s personality.   A significant aspect of the costume design was the subliminal use of colour psychology to represent the evolution of personality in a character’s wardrobe palette.

Tick-Tock: Tales of Edgar Allan Poe CU Outreach Tour

As the designer/organizer for CU Outreach's production, I needed to clothe the actors in costumes that hinted at the universe of Edgar Allan Poe’s literature through the use of evocative garments such as cloaks, waistcoats, and formal gowns, all within the limits of a shoestring budget.

Metamorphoses

Due to the aquatic nature of the production, an adaptation of Ovid’s epic poem, it was my prerogative to achieve a balance of giving the ensemble cast a sensual, yet versatile appearance while remaining durable and non-contaminative after weeks of being continually submerged in water.
